For exaltation comes neither from the east, nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He puts down one and exalts another.
Psalm 75:6-7
Everyone likes promotion. It is a good thing when you get promoted. But, how or what makes a person be promoted in their career or job? Some people think that promotion only comes to those with the education and charisma to back it up. Others may feel that managers promote based on favoritism and special connections.
The Bible has something completely different to say about this. Promotion comes from the Lord! It is not a random thing that happens in our lives, nor does it come from the west or from the south, but it is coming from the Lord. God has a great and awesome plan for our lives (Jeremiah 29:11), but we have a total choice in order for that to manifest in our lives. God says in Deuteronomy 30:19 “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before your life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;”
God created you for greatness. Wherever you are right now in your life span, God wants you to be successful as a student, in your job, as a husband, as a wife, as a mother, as a father, etc. God wants to make you successful by His strength and power. Your partnership with God’s plan for your life is highly significant for that to blossom in your life.
First, we need to get over the mindset that we cannot be successful. We need to choose to believe God’s Word that all things are possible with God. It doesn’t matter how much money we make or where we live. It doesn’t matter who our parents are, or the color of our skin. It doesn’t matter how you have failed in the past or what talents or education we think we are missing. We all have the potential for greatness. The greatest reason for that is the simplet truth that the spirit of Christ dwells within us. Romans 8:9-11 says “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
Potential alone will never guarantee promotion and success in our lives. We need to discover this by choosing to believe and act upon God’s word which will bring God’s promotion in our lives.
