Our Pastor

Pastor Thomas Yohannan is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Pentecostal Church as of Nov 2020. He is an anointed preacher with a zeal for evangelization.

Pastor Thomas Yohannan was raised in Cochin, Kerala. His parents, Late Mr. C. Yohannan and Mrs. Mary Yohannan, were Government employees and also served the Lord faithfully in the city of Cochin, Kerala. Their commitment to the Lord trained their only child to walk in the ways of the Lord. At a very young age, he accepted Jesus Christ as His personal Savior and took water baptism when he was 13 years old. Later on, he was filled with the power of the Holy Spirit evidenced by speaking in other tongues. As he was taking courses to prepare for his professional career, God had a different plan for him and called him into the ministry through a sickness and receiving a divine healing from the Lord Almighty.

At the age of twenty, he committed his life for full time ministry and went to Dehradun to begin his theological studies. He completed his B.Th (Bachelor in Theology) from New Theological College in Dehradun, India and B.D. (Bachelor in Divinity) from United Theological College in Bangalore, India. During his studies in Bangalore he also served as an Associate Pastor in couple of churches in Bangalore. He was also able to gain strong hands-on experience in ministering to people from different walks of Indian society, which included street vendors, slum dwellers, AIDS/HIV victims, and people from interior villages of India.

He and his wife also did a pioneer ministry work among the North Indians in the state of Bihar. There, he gave formal music lessons to children, which allowed them to have access to many homes, which would otherwise never let a Christian minister in.

In Kerala, God also opened doors for Pastor Yohannan to serve in various existing churches of the Assemblies of God, Cochin and also served as an Academic Dean in Peniel Bible Seminary, Keezhilam, Cochin.

Later on, God enabled Pastor to have the opportunity to do further graduate study M.Th (Masters in Theology) at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and to minister at the Church for the Nations. This allowed him to meet even more people of different backgrounds, as well as have opportunities to travel to different countries in Europe.

Pastor Thomas Yohannan and his family relocated to Warren, Michigan in 2012, where he assumed the role of Senior Pastor at the International Assembly of God. This marked a remarkably blessed season for his ministry, witnessing numerous individuals embracing faith, and inspiring both the young and old to serve the Lord. The church experienced significant growth during this period.

Following his tenure in Michigan, Pastor Yohannan was selected and appointed to serve as the Senior Pastor at True Light Christian Assembly in Houston, Texas. There, he shepherded the entire congregation, fostering spiritual growth and welcoming many new families into the church. Both churches experienced the movement of the Holy Spirit, leading to the establishment of various ministries aimed at spiritually equipping individuals of all ages.

Pastor Yohannan is married to Sybil, from Kottayam, Kerala. Sybil had her faith from Church of South India (CSI) background. During her college days, she came to know the Lord and was the first person in her family to become Pentecostal. Through her fervent prayers and fasting, the Lord answered, and her parents became Pentecostal. She has a sibling who is also a minister of the gospel in Nenagh, Ireland. Sybil has a bachelor’s degree, two master’s degrees, and a certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education. She is deeply committed to serving the Lord and His people.

The couple is blessed with two talented boys, Noel and Kevin, who actively serve the Lord in the worship team and media ministry for the glory of God. Both sons wholeheartedly support their parents in ministry. As a family, they are passionate about the ministry the Lord has entrusted to them, committed to serving His people wherever He leads them.
