And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean. “Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, ‘I am willing; be cleansed,’ Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” –Matthew 8:2-3.
This is an amazing scripture where we can see the heart of God for us. We see very clearly that God is able and at the same time, God is willing to do what you are asking from Him. All Christians probably do believe that God has power to bless you, prosper you, heal you, protect you and make you a success. However, we know that not all Christians believe that God is willing to do that for them.
The leper In Matthew 8:2-3 knew that Jesus was able to heal him, but he doubted God’s willingness to do so to him. He knew that God is powerful. He also knew that God can do whatever He wishes to do because God is all powerful and all knowing. So, he came and worshiped Him sincerely from his heart but at the same time doubting and broken in his heart about God’s willingness to heal him personally. We too are often in this confused state and often pray, “Lord if it’s your will, heal me.” Or at times, when we pray for others at the end we put in the caveat, “let His will be done”, as if we were not clear what His will was in that situation.
Jesus’ response to the leper shows the heart of our Lord and Savior. Furthermore, we know that Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). This is the heart of God. He is not only able, but we must know that He is 100 percent willing to bless you, restore you, protect you, heal you, and remove your guilt and shame.
Whatever the change that you are longing for, whatever the breakthrough that you are believing for, He says to you right now, “I AM WILLING”. The scripture says in Hebrews 13:8, that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He does not change His position based on the changes that we see outside.
Now just believe in your heart and confess it through your mouth: “God can, and HE IS WILLING to do it for me”
