“So, then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God[Christ]”
Romans 10:17
Without faith it is impossible to please God. We can only connect with God Almighty by faith. Then the question is, how do I get faith? The answer is very simple, according Romans 10:17, faith comes by hearing the Word of Christ. In the original text, the word used there is “Christos,” which means Christ. We can please Father God by believing and continuing to believe in Christ. The faith that we need is coming from hearing and mediating on the person of Christ.
Under the new covenant, we get to meditate on the person of Christ when we meditate on the Word. Jesus is the Word made flesh. We are not just meditating on some information, rather we mediate on the person that is revealed through the scriptures. We need to meditate on His love for you, on His finished work on the cross for us, His forgiveness, His grace and on His mercy.
When you meditate(mutter) on Jesus (the word became flesh) day and night, according to the scriptures, “For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” (Joshua 1:8).
For example, when you take Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my Shepherd,” you can begin to mutter this scripture. As you began to meditate on this simple statement, you will start sensing that “The Lord is My Shepherd” and it will become a living reality to you. You will perceive that the Lord “is” (present tense). The Lord is my shepherd now. What is the nature of a shepherd, He provides, He protects, He takes care of Sheep. So here, you enjoy Jesus, the very present help, talking care of you now.
Build your faith and make your way prosperous as you meditate on Christ and the finished work of the cross. He is the author and the finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2a)!
